By far the best tempura of my life. It is impressive how something so simple can go to different levels in the michelin star restaurant. All tempuras were exceptionally done, with asparagus, lotus root and shrimp being my favorite. I enjoyed the tsubari course which makes more than a full lunch. If you and your friend get one beer and share a cold sake (reasonably priced for a restaurant that level) it will end up with a 17,000 yen 💴 bill to each. I would definitely pay more and test their dinner. Don't expect to seat however at the main table, and reservation is mandatory.

Wonderful experience at Tempura Kondo. Food and staff were equally exceptional. Would recommend to anyone looking for a unique cultural experience with outstanding presentation and execution of a fabulous meal. Be aware that the food is served via counter seating and comes at you rather quickly. It is also a lot of food that is prepared carefully and thoughtfully for you. You have 3 options to choose from. If you're not a big eater, the smallest option is more than enough. Kudos to the chefs and rhe whole staff. Bravo!

Flawless lunch yesterday - They treat every seasonal ingredient with so much respect—the quality is top-tier and fried in an incredibly thin, light batter. Another huge spotlight was seeing them fry using two different pots (likely at different oil temperatures)—so rare and special, I’ve never seen that anywhere else! The vegetable tempura is next-level, especially the eggplant, and of course, that legendary sweet potato! Truly worth every bit of its two-star Michelin fame. Ending the meal with mango for dessert was also a wonderful surprise—so rare to see at other places in Japan. The hospitality was perfect from start to finish. The staff is super attentive and gives great recommendations. It was also incredibly impressive when Kondo-san personally thank every customer at the end. It really shows his deep respect for his craft and guests. It’s tough to book due to their strict reservation system, but this is 100% a must-revisit!
